APRICOT KERNEL

from $11.98

Apricot Kernel

Botanical Name: Prunus armeniaca Botanical Family: Rosaceae

Quick Facts

  • Method: Cold Pressed

  • Texture/Absorption: Light and fine; absorbs easily into the skin without leaving a heavy, greasy residue.

  • Color: Pale yellow to golden.

The Profile

Apricot Kernel oil is extracted from the soft center (the "kernel") of the apricot stone. It is structurally very similar to the oil produced naturally by our own skin (sebum), which is why it is so well-tolerated. It is particularly valued in aromatherapy for being "penetrating"—it helps carry essential oils deeper into the dermal layers than heavier oils.

Nutrient Profile

Exceptionally high in Vitamin A (great for skin cell renewal) and Vitamin E. It is rich in Oleic acid (Omega-9) and Linoleic acid (Omega-6), which help strengthen the skin’s barrier function.

Skin & Body Benefits

  • Face: Its light texture makes it one of the best choices for facial massage. It helps to firm and tone the skin while providing deep hydration to dehydrated or "stiff" complexions.

  • Body: Excellent for sensitive, inflamed, or dry skin. Because it isn't too heavy, it is often used for full-body treatments in the summer or for those who dislike the "oily" feel of heavier carriers.

  • Hair: A wonderful treatment for a dry, itchy scalp or for smoothing out frizzy ends without weighing the hair down.

The "At Home" Uses

  1. Night Facial Oil: Mix 1 drop of Lavender and 1 drop of Frankincense into 10ml of Apricot Kernel oil for a soothing, anti-aging night serum.

  2. Sensitive Skin Cleanser: Massage a small amount onto the face to lift away dirt, then wipe away with a warm, damp cloth.

Ideal For Blending

Because of its fine texture, it is the ideal base for facial blends and perfume oils. It pairs beautifully with delicate florals like Rose or Neroli, and skin-healing oils like Carrot Seed or Chamomile.

Safety, Precautions & Storage

  • Safety: Generally considered very safe and non-irritating. However, those with a severe nut allergy should exercise caution as it is derived from the pit of a stone fruit.

  • Storage: Apricot Kernel oil is prone to oxidation. Keep it in a cool, dark place. Typical shelf life is approximately 12 months.

Available Sizes: 50ml, 100ml, 500ml
